The Volvo group is known for its wide range of products including cars, buses, construction equipment, marine and industrial propulsion systems as well as aircraft engine components. Founded in 1927, Volvo has been at the forefront of the construction equipment market since 1936, when it introduced its first hydraulic grader.
In 1967, the company introduced its first hydraulic excavator. The acquisition of Bolinder-Munktell (BM) in 1950 enabled Volvo to enter the construction equipment market. In the following decades, major acquisitions of American and Asian companies such as Сlark Michigan co, Samsung heavy equipment construction, Akermann, Euclid, champion machinery and Pel-job consolidated the company's position at the forefront of this field.
In 2007, Volvo acquired the road construction division of Ingersoll-rand. Before this acquisition, the division was called Volvo construction equipment in 1995. Currently, Volvo produces over 150 different types of excavators, graders, articulated dump trucks, front loaders and other compact equipment. The product range includes tracked excavators, wheeled models and small machines.
In addition, the company has joined ABG (Volvo-ABG) and Terex (Motherwell) to offer paver rollers and articulated dump trucks, such as the A20, A30 and A40, for a complete selection of road construction machines.
