Kleemann GmbH, headquartered in Göppingen, is a construction equipment manufacturer specializing in crushing and screening plants used in the processing and recycling of mineral resources. These machines are utilized in quarries and construction sites to break down large rock into reusable end products. The product range includes mobile jaw, impact, and cone crushers, as well as screening plants. Kleemann GmbH is a subsidiary of the Wirtgen Group, which, in turn, is part of the American agricultural and construction machinery conglomerate, Deere & Company.
The company's roots can be traced back to 1857 when Ferdinand Kleemann founded a small file-making workshop, marking the town's first industrial operation. Over time, the company expanded its offerings to include agricultural machinery like fodder-cutting machines, circular saws, and eccentric and spindle presses, before eventually specializing in rock processing. In the 1920s, they developed mobile crushing and screening plants, and in the following decades, they introduced stationary and later crawler-type mobile plants.
After World War II, rock processing became the primary focus of the company. In 2005, it was transformed into Kleemann GmbH, and in 2006, the Wirtgen Group acquired an 80 percent majority stake.
In 2008, Kleemann GmbH started building a new main plant in the Stauferpark in eastern Göppingen, covering an area of 12.5 hectares, with an investment of around 60 million euros. In 2016, the company further expanded the plant to a total area of 150,000 square meters.
In 2017, the entire Wirtgen Group was acquired by the American company John Deere.
